Trade Security Workshop
New Challenges regarding the security of goods shipments from one continent to the other. To standardize this effort, the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, established by the UN’s International Maritime Organization instituted a standard security procedure to help secure the shipment of good, from one country to another. Economic crime is becoming profitable therefore, securing trade channels cannot be overemphasized. The security dimension of trade cannot be ignored because of the interwoven relationship that exist between ”SECURITY and ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT”. This session will discuss effective new security measures and technologies available for trade security.

Providing Capacity Building, Developing Infrastructure And Advancing Science and Technology To Address Unemployment And Poverty: The Millennium Challenge Account
The Millennium challenge Account (MCA) has been identified as a fundamental shift in the way the United States will be delivering / administering foreign assistance. MCA has only one focus – to promote poverty reduction through economic growth. Under this initiative, countries will be eligible based on their effort to do the right thing for their people, rule justly, invest in their people and promote economic freedom. MCA is a partnership built on several key principles that includes focusing on sustainable growth, country ownership, inclusiveness, accountability and result oriented development. To qualify for an MCA funding program, countries will need to provide a country specific compact. The discussion in this session will delineate how to meet the requirement needed to participate in the MCA Program.
